Indiana
Indiana, the Hoosier State, is known for its spectacular high school basketball teams and rich farmlands. In its industrial north, Indiana touches Lake Michigan where it has casinos that are popular destinations for gaming aficionados from throughout the country. Shipshewana, which is in northern Indiana, has unique arts, crafts, and shopping for the travelers. Travelers through Indiana will notice that the landscape changes from lush farmlands to rolling hills as they drive south toward the Indianapolis and the Ohio River. Indianapolis, state capital, is most famous for the Indy Speedway, but it is a pleasant city to visit with its tree-lined streets, museums, and fine dining. History buffs, who remember the old campaign slogan for John Tyler, "Tippee Canoe and Tyler, Too," visit Battleground, Indiana. Bloomington, home of Indiana University, is another important city to visit with its elegant amenities in the relaxing atmosphere of a college town. Golfing, bicycling, and hiking are popular sports around Bloomington. Boaters like to go to the Ohio River and adventure along the Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois River banks visiting the dockside restaurants and parks.
